Advertise With Us!

August 7th, 2012

Are you running a local business in the Port Charlotte/North Port/Punta Gorda area? Can your business use a boost? Why not consider advertising in the GoWaiter Menu Guide? It’s a fantastic marketing tool that reaches thousands of people, and we’re getting ready RIGHT NOW to publish our next edition. If you’re thinking about new and better ways to promote your services, we’ve got a solution for you.

The GoWaiter Menu Guide is used by residents, visitors, and local businesses when ordering meals. Unlike other advertising media, the GoWaiter Menu Guide is kept by the phone and referenced every time a customer is looking to order delivery. The publication is used repeatedly – most customers use GoWaiter several times each quarter, and many place orders multiple times a week. And each time they do, they will see your advertisement, strategically placed next to the menu of a popular local restaurant.

The GoWaiter Menu Guide is published quarterly (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall) with each edition having a distribution of 20,000-25,000. However, unlike standard coupon books that are placed in stacks (most of which are thrown away or ignored) at local businesses, our distribution is carefully targeted:

  • 10,000-15,000 Menu Guides are direct mailed to residential customers in the Port Charlotte and North Port Area;
  • Over 500 Menu Guides are distributed by hand (with a personal touch) each month to local businesses, increasing awareness of the service;
  • A menu is included with each delivery made by GoWaiter drivers;
  • On display daily in each of the restaurants partnered with GoWaiter;
  • Available in all local hotels;
  • Placed in “move-in” and new resident packages at local apartment complexes and gated communities;
  • On display daily in waiting rooms and on countertops at dozens of local area businesses, including doctor’s offices and hospitals, auto mechanics, hair salons, office complexes, and retailers (with full permission of the business owners, ensuring that the Menu Guides will not be thrown away) and restocked regularly.

Compared with other advertising media and coupon books, whose distribution numbers are often inflated to raise ad prices, the GoWaiter Menu Guide has great value to any business looking to get more eyeballs on their ads.

Tipping Your Delivery Driver

July 30th, 2012

“The delivery charge goes to the driver, right?”

“Do I have to tip them?”

“They’re getting paid for this, aren’t they?”

The question of tipping is one of those subjects that everybody’s got an opinion about — but not everybody agrees. Some people feel that you shouldn’t have to pay someone extra just for doing their job. Others believe you should always tip no matter how poor the service. In the restaurant delivery industry, like most food service businesses, the question comes up a lot. Where does the answer lie?

At GoWaiter, one of the things we most frequently have to explain to people is the delivery charge. Many, many folks mistakenly believe that it’s an automatic payment for the driver, and therefore they don’t feel obligated to tip.

The truth is, most of the delivery charge DOES go to the driver — but rather than their bank accounts, it goes straight into their gas tanks! Our drivers use their own personal vehicles to bring you lunch and dinner, and they purchase their own fuel. The delivery charge helps them offset that cost, which as we all know is pretty high right now.

Another thing to keep in mind is that GoWaiter delivery drivers are independent contractors — they work for tips and don’t earn an hourly wage. They depend on being rewarded for their awesome service, because otherwise they’re basically working for free!

Now, don’t get us wrong — you should NEVER be made to feel obligated to shell out extra for poor service. If a restaurant delivery driver (or waitress, or counterperson) gives you lip and drops your food on the floor, they shouldn’t expect a tip. But when you’ve got a friendly, professional, speedy server bringing you delicious food in the comfort of your own home (like our GoWaiter drivers), you might want to give some thought as to what that service is worth to you.

Some things to consider when deciding how much — or whether — to tip your driver include:

  • Attitude — Did your driver greet you with courtesy and a smile, and thank you for your business?
  • Speed — Did they bring you your order within the estimated delivery time?
  • Professionalism — Did the driver come to your door with a clean, presentable appearance? Did they take your payment and hand over your order like a pro?

Ultimately, it’s up to you — tipping is something that’s a personal choice for each consumer. Here at GoWaiter, we believe our drivers are worth it.

If you have any questions or concerns about delivery charges or tipping, feel free to drop us a line anytime!
